Galatians 5:22

The Fruit of the Spirit Lesson #2- Faithfulness

HOOK:
Have animal puppets interact with each other making different voices for each one.

PIG:  I am sooooooooooo happy that every morning, when I wake up in my pig pen all nice and cozy, I can count on Farmer John filling up my slop bucket. He comes every day, early in the morning, even if it’s raining or snowing, or even if he’s sick.  I never have to worry that I’m going to go hungry, because Farmer John takes good care of me!  He is so FAITHFUL.

DUCK:  What do you mean, Farmer John is “faithful”.  Is that why his tummy is so round?  He’s full of faith?  I want my tummy to be full of bread!

PIG:  No, silly duck!  Farmer John is always there for me.  I’m just a pig, and I need someone to take care of me and feed me and make sure that everything is alright.  I don’t have to worry about all that because Farmer John is always there for me.  If Farmer John wasn’t faithful, I’d be scared, cold and hungry.  But I’m as happy as a pig in mud because Farmer John takes care of me!

DUCK:  Ohhhh! I get it!  It’s good to be faithful.  I’m glad that Farmer John takes good care of you, too!

BOOK:
The Bible says (Galatians 5:22) that the fruit of the Spirit is (read from your Bible):  “Love, Joy, Peace, Patience, Kindness, Goodness, Faithfulness, gentleness and self-control.”

Do you know what it means to be faithful?  It means that you can count on someone or something no matter what!  Your Mom or Dad is faithful to feed you and help you and tuck you in at night.  Maybe you watch a show on TV faithfully- that means at the same time every day.  Just like Farmer John is faithful to feed the piggy every day on his farm without missing a day for any reason, God is faithful to us.  He says, “He will never leave us or forget us.” Hebrews 13:5.  God is our Heavenly Father.  He made you very special and He is with you every second.  He sees you and hears you and loves you every minute of the day.  Even if you feel like you are all alone, you can remember that God says He will never leave you.

LOOK:
Just like Farmer John is faithful to take care of the piggy on his farm, God is faithful to take care of you.  He gave you a Mommy and Daddy to watch over you and feed you and love you.  He loves you and cares about you very much.  And because God is faithful, you don’t have to feel afraid or lonely.  Have you ever felt alone, even if your whole family was in the same room with you? Just remember that God is right there with you. Is there anywhere you can go that God is not there?  No, God is everywhere.

When you go to bed at night, you should thank God for all the ways He has taken care of you throughout the day.  There were probably many times that you could have gotten hurt that God protected you. He is our great God!

God is faithful and He will never leave you or forget about you.

TOOK:
Just like Farmer John was faithful to feed the piggy on his farm, God is faithful to take care you.

CLOSING PRAYER:
Dear God, thank you for always being there for us to take care of us and protect us.  We love you and are so happy that you will never leave us alone or forget about us.  In Jesus’ Name, AMEN!
