Isaiah 43:1 God Knows My Name
HOOK:
Write your name on an ID bracelet that has been made from paper, then slip it on.
Tell the children: This bracelet has a very special word written on it. It has my name written across the bracelet. Who can read my name on the bracelet? Invite the children to point to the bracelet and repeat your name. Then continue: My name is special because it helps other people know who I am. You have names, too. Take off Your ID bracelet and say: Let’s pass this name bracelet around to one another. You hold the bracelet, you can tell us your own name.
BOOK: Isaiah 43:1
The Bible says God knows you by name.
LOOK:
Tell the children: We know the names of the people in our class, but it would be very hard to know everyone’s name in the world, wouldn’t it? But there is someone who knows every name—someone who knows your name and mine. Who knows your name and all about you and knows all you say and feel and do?
Invite the children to answer. Then say:
God knows us by name! God knows each of our names because He made us and loves us! God doesn’t need to look at my name bracelet to know my name because God already knows me. Let’s make name bracelets like I am wearing to remind you that God knows your name.
Have the children make their own name tags.
TOOK:
Ask the children:
Who knows everyone’s name and knows your name, too?
Why does God want to know you so well?
How do names help us tell one another apart?
MEMORY VERSE:
“I have called you by name.” Isaiah 43:1
CLOSING PRAYER:
Dear God, we’re glad you know each name and that you love us all the same. We want you to know that we love you and that we praise your wonderful name, too. Amen.
