Harvest Party

Annual Kids Harvest Festival Party
(Halloween Alternative-Taking back the Day for God)
We have an annual Harvest Festival.  The festival goes on from 6:30 to 8:30 every year on October 31.  During this time the children make their own fun whether it is at one of our many Bible-basedcarnival games, doing a craft, playing in a maze, getting face painted or taking a breather to have a snack or dinner.  Parents have been known to join in the fun with our scavenger hunt which gives them the opportunity to learn about the original harvest festival as mentioned in Leviticus.
This is our fourth year celebrating in this manner.  It gives everyone the freedom to come for a short time or stay till the end.  It has been a blessing to take back the day for God and giving Him all the glory while allowing the children to have fun.  On our part, we have been able to plant seeds of faith in their hearts and have seen growth over the years. We do welcome all wholesome costumes meaning anything that does not have to do with evil, such as witches, vampires, ghost, etc.  Also we ask that all costumes be modest and not involve blood.  Any masks or weapons will be held at the door until the individual leaves.  This makes the night pleasant for all attending and sticks to the theme of a harvest festival and not a Halloween party.  The children really don’t miss a thing as candy is given at every station along with other great giveaways.

I love this idea. I teach at St. Paul’s Elementary in Concordia Mo and would love to integrate this into our pre-school program next year. Would you please share with me the activities you do at the stations and especially the Harvest Pumpkin Poem? I look forward to your response and wish you God’s greatest blessings on your Festival this year.

    In His service and love,
    Donna Oetting
